7 Fashion Rules I'm Breaking This Season

Driven largely by Gen Z (ie. the generation that didn't get to wear these first time around), some of the most standout trends from the noughties - that we all swore we'd never wear again - have come back.
Is it me or was the "minimal capsule wardrobe" aesthetic getting a bit dull? Well, not anymore. Most likely we will regret these fashion decisions (again), but boy are these trends fun. Here are the rules I'm breaking this season that I though I'd never break (again).

LOW WAISTED PANTS
Ok, hear me out. I know we all said we'd never wear low waisted again, but... these are so comfortable, non restrictive - you can breathe AND eat a full meal in these. The first time I put these on this year I was an instant convert, highly recommend.
Plus it's a great way to give your wardrobe (and your tummy) a breath of fresh air - just opt for a classic low waisted trouser instead of a stuffy high waisted one next time your shop.

CYCLING SUNGLASSES
How do you make the most basic neutral outfit instantly cool? Yes, this tiny accessory will get you there. And yes, these are not for every look, aesthetic or occasion, but... name a more statement accessory to pair with a classic all black outfit. I'll wait.

PUFFERS WITH HEELS
If you live in a colder climate this combo is a no brainer. Personally I'm just so happy to be *given permission by Balenciaga to keep cozy while being all dressed up.

CROPPED VESTS
If you would like to stick to the minimal masculine aesthetic, this one if for you. Super versatile, actually comfy and easily tailored, this old "classic" (I came to hate in the 2000s) can actually look super cool with practically any bottom - from a basic jean to a straight maxi skirt. Just keep the look minimal to avoid looking like you've just come from the circus.

CAMO + FLURO
Okay, so this was actually my favourite trend circa 2005, so I decided to give it another go. And while this is definitely not for everyone, this is definitely a LOOK. I'll just leave it at that.

TINY BELT SKIRTS
Are these practical? Hell no. Obviously the extra low waist can only really be pulled off on a very "good day", but are these fun to wear? Yes and I will wear my tiny mini skirts until I am way way too old to do so.

UNDERARM BAGS
The new classic we never expected or anticipated, yet we all love. This bag shape is also wonderful for keeping your possessions secure, your shoulders comfortable and giving the most basic of outfit a cool edge.
Which noughties trends are you embracing and which ones are a hard pass for you? Let me know!
As always,
Lots of love,
Lena
