About Me

There’s been a few new faces on the blog, so I figured I’d share a little bit about me.

My name is Lena and I am 30 years old.

I grew up in the town of Voronezh, Russia where I had the most amazing childhood playing in the snow in the winter and swimming in the rivers and lakes in summer.

I got my passion for fashion from my mother — fashionable clothing was hard to come by in Soviet Union, so she used to always sew clothes for herself and little me.

I got my passion for travel from my father who was always fascinated with the big world outside of Russia and, once Soviet Union collapsed and the borders were open, was pretty obsessed with travelling. My father’s fascination eventually resulted in my family moving from to the little tropical paradise city of Cairns, Australia when I was in high school; this is how my Australian life started.

Growing up I was always very creative, so I studied communication & graphic design out of high school, but I also have quite an analytical brain, so at 22 I did a career 360 and went back to uni to study law. The creative side of me eventually won, as I realised a career for as a lawyer was not for me. Sunkissed Sundays was started as a creative side project while I was working in property law.

Ever since I was quite little I was always fascinated by how clothes can change who you are — for yourself and for others. I was never interested in dressing the same as everybody else, so I was beyond fascinated when at 18 I realised that by op-shopping I can find beautiful pieces with cools history that are actually unique.

Fast forward a few years and I started sharing my vintage and second hand finds as well, as tips and tricks on how to dress more ethically and sustainably — the smart fashion girl’s way of dressing on the blog — at it took on a life of its own.

I live in Melbourne, Australia with my partner and our two cats Ushi and Seva.
