How to get that perfect shot

*Disclaimer - this is not a model telling you how to model - just a mere creative who loves to take photos and be in photos.
Here are the tricks & tips that work for me
Come up with a theme/idea
While I love a spontaneous shoot, a well research spontaneous shoot is always that much better - get creative before you get you hands on the camera and the work will be that much more interesting.
Location
It can be simple or busy, dramatic or barely visible - find the right place for your vision and your idea.
Lighting is everything
Same location/person will look completely different in different lighting. If not sure, sunset/sunrise shots will always be a winner and avoid midday shoots, as chances are, the photos will be overexposed.
Make it theatrical
I am a big believer of social media being not a portrayal of my actual reality, but an alternative one. This is why I love playing with hairstyles, make up and dress ups when I shoot. It doesn't have to be over the top - subtle is quite often more powerful than overly busy.
Find the right photographer
Whether you are your own photographer and use a tripod or you have a friend/partner willing to help, you need to work in a way that is comfortable and fun. I have done both and both can work super well (although there is nothing not awkward about posing in front of a tripod in the middle of the street, but it can be worth it). I’ve learned that collaborating with people can have the most amazing results.

Most importantly, remember that people want to see you & your vision and they what a means of escape through social media, so make it authentic and fun - otherwise what’s the point?
Lots of love,
Lena
