3 Days in Rome

Our fabulously timed Italian trip back in the peaceful time that February 2020 was. We spent 3 days walking around sunlit Rome - gloriously warm winter days with subtle winterly light gently reflecting off the pastel coloured buildings.

This city is such a feast for the senses - smell of espresso in the mornings and fresh pizza crust in the afternoons, piles of rubbish everywhere and mud that dirtied up your shoes in no time, the beauty of each and every single building, the little touches of art everywhere you looked.
We stayed at a very unimpressive inner city hotel called Villa Rosa - not the best, but the peaceful inner city courtyard surrounded by beautiful buildings and lit by morning or afternoon sun more that made up for the lack of comfy beds (and a pretty terrible shower arrangement).

It was so warm - 16, 18 degrees and sunny - that I didn’t need anything thicker than a trench coat. Wearing simple and classic outfits such as jeans, blazers and shirts just felt right. A piece of advice though - do not attempt to spend a day walking around Rome in boots - opt for sneakers instead.
We ate steady diet of espresso, pizza and pasta. Who cares about carbs if you are walking 30K steps a day anyway. A glass of wine with the dinner is a great way take the edge of your feet aching from all of the walking.

We saw as much, as we could in such a short period of time - the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Vatican, St Peters Cathedral, Altar of the Fatherland.
I photographed it all throughly along the way and, although it has taken me time to go through these, I am really excited to share a few of the 3K shots we took.
